
In 2001, John Stainback founded Stainback Public/Private Real Estate (SPPRE), a Houston-based, national consulting and development management company. Since 1985, Mr. Stainback served as a Project Manager to structure and implement public/private finance and development plans for projects totaling $27.5 billion.
SPPRE is focused solely on public/private real estate partnerships. The driving force behind SPPRE services is to place the public partner in a position of strength to structure partnerships with private developers. SPPRE has extensive experience in downtown redevelopment projects, TOD’s and New Town Centers, and is currently serving as an advisor on projects totaling $16.5 billion.
Mr. Stainback authored the book “Public/Private Finance and Development” published by John Wiley & Sons in 2000. In August, 2005, he participated in writing ULI’s publication “The Ten Principles of Successful Public/Private Partnerships”. In June, 2007, Mr. Stainback authored an article in the Mass Transit Magazine Supplement, Sustainability Concepts, titled “A 10-Part TOD Finance Plan”. Mr. Stainback also authored Chapter 8, The Public/Private Finance of Redevelopment, for the American Bar Association (ABA) 385-page “ABA Redevelopment Book” published in 2008.
Mr. Stainback was a Full Member of ULI and member of ULI’s Public/Private Partnership Council. He was also a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).
Mr. Stainback was an Adjunct Professor and served on the Council of Advisors for the Master of Real Estate Development program at the School of Architecture, University of Maryland.
